Staffing Update - News May 2022
Dear Families
I wanted to write to let you know that I have decided to move on to new challenges and so I will leave Coed Y Brain at the end of the Summer. I have been privileged to work with this wonderful community for 7 years. I can't quite believe it has been that long. I know that with such a committed and dedicated teaching and support staff and a committed Governing Body, Coed Y Brain will continue to flourish.
We have achieved a great deal and I can assure you we will continue to work together, full steam ahead for the summer term. The Governing Body has successfully appointed a replacement headteacher, Mrs Chloe Wilson who is thrilled to join the CYB family. I am confident that she will help the school grow and develop with your continued support.
Many thanks for your support.

Covid Alert Levels and how changes impact schools March 2022
We continue to follow the Schools intervention framework from WG and act on advice from the local public health system.
As we transition from pandemic to endemic the alert level system still allows measures and interventions to address specific risks. Regardless of the alert level at any point, the following three key points are central to the approach in schools.
At CYB we have a risk assessment that is frequently reviewed so that mitigations are in place as required to minimise risk.
Core interventions to be implemented
The following core measures should remain in place to protect learners and staff:
July 9th 2021 UPDATE
New Operational Guidance has been released today for schools from Welsh Government and we are reviewing it along with our school Risk Assessment. We expect school start times to resume as normal with all starting at 08.45 from September 2021. We will continue to use all 4 gates to avoid crowding and will ask pupils only at this time. We will be in touch which gate you should use once arrangements are confirmed with CCBC.
Please note Sept 2nd and 3rd are INSET days so the start of the new term for most pupils is Monday 6th September 2021. New Nursery pupils will have a staggered intake to ease them into school life. We will inform you of those arrangements separately. Diolch. CYB
Summer reopening now 3 weeks not 4 - Update 19/6/2020
Dear Families
Preparations are well underway for a safe and measured return to school on 29th June. Staff are excited to see the children to help them check in, catch up and prepare for their learning this side of the summer and for September.
We have shared our plan with you and are grateful for your responses to tell us your intentions of a return to school for your child.
We have just been notified this afternoon that the return to school is now 3 weeks not 4. We are disappointed by this as we had planned for a 4 week return and have worked hard to ensure smooth arrangements. This change is beyond our control and not of our making. However, we will work with further determination in school, as a cluster and with the LA to ensure the 3 weeks give our children the best opportunities we can offer.
This of course means we will adapt our plan and share this with you on Monday. The changes will mean children from Reception to Y6 will have 3 sessions in school instead of 4. We will share exactly how this looks next week. CCBC statement is attached below.
Many thanks for your understanding.
Mrs J Smith
